10. Understanding God's First Earth - Howard W. Hall

Largeprint (Paperback) Our price: 9.99  - Click book title for availability and further details

Readers of Understanding God's First Earth--believers and non-believers alike--will feel Howard W. Hall's unconstrained, child-like faith God commands of His children, as this impassioned and devoted veteran Sunday School teacher of more than thirty years, explains his studied understanding of the Creation, as recorded in the Holy Bible's first eight chapters, in easily understood layman's words.

Whether you agree or disagree with any or every aspect of Mr. Hall's heartfelt conclusions, Understanding God's First Earth encourages each of us to reevaluate the so-called scientific evidence presented as fact by the vast majority of contemporary science and academia today. In humankind's anxious pursuit of divine wisdom through science and technology, Mr. Hall contends much of the basis for our higher understanding is built upon supposition. Ultimately, Mr. Hall most readily concedes, only God can answer the many questions of how, why, and when we were created, posed by humanity's innate curiosity. But Understanding God's First Earthis one man's reflective, insightful verse-by-verse interpretation of the first eight chapters of Genesis that will most surely aid your understanding of Creation as written in the Holy Bible.

12. Undoing Depression What Therapy Doesn't Teach You and Medication Can't Give You (Large Print 16pt) - Richard O'Connor

Largeprint (Paperback) Our price: 24.99  - Click book title for availability and further details

One in ten people suffer from depression and for many sufferers depression has been their experience for so long that it is possible to believe that it has become who they are. Yet, depression is an illness, like heart disease; it something that one ''has''. Like heart disease, depression is fuelled by complex, interrelated factors: genetic, environmental, biochemical. In this eminently sensible book Richard O'Connor considers another, often overlooked factor: our own habits. Unwittingly, the sufferer can become good at depression. Learning how to hide it, how to work around it, perhaps even achieving in their life a depressive can make it through every day but each day is a struggle rather than satisfying. They deprive themselves of the possibility of true recovery, of joy and healthy emotion, of the feeling of being alive in the world. Ultimately, they make things worse. Undoing Depression teaches you how to replace depressive patterns of thought and relating to other people and behaving with new, better skills. Anyone who has learned to do depression can learn how to undo it.

14. Unforced Error A Rep and Melissa Pennyworth Mystery (Large Print 16pt) - Michael Bowen

Largeprint (Paperback) Our price: 19.99  - Click book title for availability and further details

Intellectual property attorneys, romance publishers, and librarians - the very last people you'd expect to be mixed up in murder! Add a pinch of authentic Civil War re - enactors and a sparkling tour of Kansas City, and voila, a classic yet up - to - the - minute crime. Rep and Melissa Pennyworth head west from Indiana to a re - enactment of a Civil War battle in Kansas City, Missouri. Rep is really in quest of a cutting - edge copyright case connected with romance publishing house Jackrabbit Press. He finds a corpse instead. Linda Damon, Melissa's best girlhood friend, worked for the victim, an editor (and womanizer) before his death. Linda's husband, librarian Peter, an enthusiastic Civil War hobbyist, had motive (it must be said that on one recent occasion Linda became a bit too involved in her job), means (a Civil War saber that upon examination proves to be drenched in the victim's blood), and opportunity (a publishing party). Logically, Rep's knowledge of trademark and copyright law, Melissa's Ph.D. in Literature, and the passionate enthusiasm for all things English embraced by Peter's boss at the KC library, Diane Klimchock, should be no help in what is clearly a case for the police. However, when Rep and Melissa are involved in crime, logic is seldom a reliable guide, as we saw in their earlier investigation, Screenscam. While Unforced Error is great good fun as a mystery, as forecast in its witty (and startling) opening scene, it reminds us about the relevance of language, of words, to everything we do.

Despite his good intentions, Tom's route takes him into every bar along the way while crossing paths with the loopy and the wise, the pious and the distinctly ungodly. He finds himself contending with song - happy evangelists, unlikely scholars and enlightened globetrotters, and randy backpackers out to bed every pilgrim they meet. Not to mention his own very restless demons, some of which lead him to confront troubles he thought he'd left at home. Unholy Pilgrims is an irreverent and engaging take on figuring out what the hell to do with your life.

16. Universal Co-Opetition (Large Print 16pt) - V. Frank Asaro

Largeprint (Paperback) Our price: 16.99  - Click book title for availability and further details

For all of history, human beings have striven to reconcile the divisions that separate society from society, human from human, and each individual from him - or herself, for the betterment of us all. Philosophy, religion, government, science - each offers solutions, yet the world grows more polarized and unstable every year.

Does nature itself provide the answer? A guiding principle that applies at all levels, from the subatomic to the cosmic, the personal to the global, art to politics?

It does: Co - opetition, a fundamental law that unifies the apparently opposing forces of cooperation and competition. Developed after a long and eclectic study of everything from physics to economics, the theory of Universal Co - opetition offers an antidote to polarization, a tool for figuring out the answers to the great questions, and a recipe for personal and social success - all stemming from the nature of the universe itself.

19. U. S. Grant (Large Print 16pt) - Waugh Waugh

Largeprint (Paperback) Our price: 31.99  - Click book title for availability and further details

Grant was the most famous person in America, considered by most citizens to be equal in stature to George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Yet today his monuments are rarely visited, his military reputation is overshadowed by that of Robert E. Lee, and his presidency is permanently mired at the bottom of historical rankings. In an insightful blend of biography and cultural history, Joan Waugh traces Grant's shifting national and international reputation, illuminating the role of memory in our understanding of American history. She captures a sense of what led nineteenth-century Americans to overlook Grant's obvious faults and hold him up as a critically important symbol of national reconciliation and unity. Waugh further shows that Grant's reputation and place in public memory closely parallel the rise and fall of the northern version of the Civil War story--in which the United States was the clear, morally superior victor and Grant was the symbol of that victory. After the failure of Reconstruction, the dominant Union myths about the war gave way to a southern version that emphasized a more sentimental remembrance of the honor and courage of both sides and ennobled the ''Lost Cause.'' By the 1920s, Grant's reputation had plummeted. Most Americans today are unaware of how revered Grant was in his lifetime. Joan Waugh uncovers the reasons behind the rise and fall of his renown, underscoring as well the fluctuating memory of the Civil War itself.
