103. The Little Prince - Large Print Edition - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Largeprint (Paperback) Our price: £13.95  - Click book title for availability and further details

The Little Prince is one of the most famous books ever written. It is said to have been translated into 300 languages and dialects.

The original in French has also been reprinted by Ishi Press as Le Petit Prince - grande édition imprimée ISBN 4871879275

It was first published by Reynal & Hitchcock, New York, 1943. Copies of the first edition are rare and will sell for more than one thousand dollars.

Here we have used for this reprint the original translation by Katherine Woods.

There are at least six other published English Language translations and so many translations in other languages that it is difficult to count them. For example, there are said to be 70 translations into Chinese.

The book was written in French. The English translation was dictated by the publisher.

The Little Prince describes his travels to ten planets. The other little planets are asteroids that circle the Sun between Mars and Jupiter. The asteroids have numbers rather than names. The Little Prince lives on one of these asteroids and visits the others.

It appears to be similar to and a predecessor of the “Star Treck” TV series involving a space ship that goes from one planet to another finding different life forms and new adventures on each planet.

Two hardluck kids revived him -- twelve-year-old Lila, a smart and sassy girl who pays for it with beatings, and Jock, her fourteen-year-old woods-wise brother. After finding Andy up the canyon and injured by the preservation process, the kids helped him to their village. The new era echoes its dark past with a vicious present, and fear rules short lives. Andy finds that Jock and Lila need him as much as he needed them. Together, with cunning, tenacity and often a use of scientific "magic," the three forge a path throught Andy's midnight-of-the-soul in a story that will grab your heart, mind, and curiosity, and pull you into their evolving world.

Largeprint (Paperback) Our price: £12.99  - Click book title for availability and further details

The Storm Has Come!

The Angel’s Blessings had faded and Kell and Longo find themselves stranded on a lonely deserted island. The world was facing global destruction in the form of a mighty curse that gave never ending rain to the planet. It wouldn’t be long before the population of the world would be decimated, leaving easy pickings for the demon and its powerful master. Kell has no choice but to contact his long dead ancestors for guidance. “My Master did not become the great warrior that he is by being soft and indecisive. While he was a man prone to thought and considering, moving slow like a master general on the battlefield, always pondering his next move, he could also be quick as a cobra when needs pressed. But that night on the island, when we were with the Angel of Glory, I saw in Kell a slow and burning anger as the woman in the cistern’s mist took the form of our beloved Anna, mocking him, and threatening the world with ninety-nine days and nights of rain, floods, and a slow but very real destruction.”
