Jose R. "Pepe" Fernandez was born in San Nicol√°s de Bari, Cuba, and since 1962 has been living in exile. Although his professional life has unfolded in the business sector, from an early age Pepe developed a love of reading and historical research. He is currently putting the finishing touches on yet another extensive research project on little known people and accounts relating to the Cuban wars of independence. The current work was born from the desire to understand how a falsehood of the eighteenth century could become a fact validated by the last three generations of our most important historians. In good measure, it is thanks to professional support that belief in the myth of Las Damas de La Habana y sus joyas (the Ladies of Havana and their jewelry) has become one of the best known and loved historical "facts". Although many might object, the author's only purpose in exposing the truth is to help prevent today's lies of propaganda from becoming tomorrow's historical truth.

Le linee sincroniche attraversano il pianeta disegnando “strade” che uniscono fra loro punti anche molto distanti; questo libro le descrive, illustrandone lo scorrimento e le funzioni con l’ausilio di mappe e disegni. Largeprint (Paperback) Our price: £19.99  - Click book title for availability and further details

Shortlisted for the NZ Post Book Awards, these 25 stories are at once arresting, moving, funny and full of insight into the human condition. Being a celebrity impersonator, says Aussie Elton John, is like living your life as a moon. 'We give up our identity and become just a reflection of another personality, like the moon having no fire of its own and being just a pale reflection of the sun when it's not there.' This collection of stories from master short fiction writer Owen Marshall is rich with people exploring their identities and how they are affected by others. There is Patrick, whose life is radically altered by a random encounter with a killer; widowed Margaret, who faces a new kind of existence alone; David, who experiences the 'spontaneous and passing friendship of strangers'; Ian, whose wife's demands for a better lifestyle lead him to a new career in telephone sex. Set in both Europe and the Antipodes, these stories will be savoured long after reading.

19. Lost Lands, Forgotten Realms Sunken Continents, Vanished Cities, and the Kingdoms That History Misplaced (Easyread Large Edition) - Bob Curran

Largeprint (Paperback) Our price: £19.99  - Click book title for availability and further details

DISCOVER THE SECRET PLACES THAT TIME FORGOT. There are places that turn up in literature or in film - mystical and legendary places whose names may be familiar, but about which we know little. We nod knowingly at the reference, but are often left wondering about places such as Atlantis, the lost land overwhelmed by the sea, or El Dorado, the fabulous city that vanished somewhere in the South American jungles. Other names are more evocative - the Garden of Eden, the mystic Isle of Avalon, and Davy Jones's Locker. But did such places actually exist and, if so, where were they, and what really happened? What are the traditions and legends associated with them? In this fascinating book, historian Dr. Bob Curran sets or to find the answers by journeying to the far-flung corners of the world and to the outer reaches of human imagination. Inside you will: ....Climb the high mountains in search of the mythical Shangri-La.... Navigate the deep swamps and jungles in a quest for the Seven Cities of Gold.... Travel to the depths of the dark oceans to look for sunken lands such as Lemuria and Lyonesse.... Experience unspeakable danger in a realm rarely visited by men - the subterranean lair of Judaculla.....Uncover the secrets of Heliopolis, Yggradsil, Hy-Brasil, the Kingdom of Prester John, and the Hollow Hills.
