A serial killer is once more at work in the City of Sails, and his victims are women with too much love to give. To track down the avenging Cupid, Detective Constable Andy Stirling needs all the help he can get from medium James Paxton. When the media get wind of Paxton's involvement, however, the manhunt rapidly becomes a circus. As pressure mounts from all sides, Paxton and Stirling must find the killer before he strikes again.

6. SUSAN'S FLUTTER - George John

Largeprint (Paperback) Our price: £6.99  - Click book title for availability and further details

Christopher Hall is devastated when his beloved wife of over forty years loses her memory. Susan Hall fails to recognise her husband and their two children, Adam and Meryl. Furthermore, she starts a passionate affair with Joseph Connolly, a resident in the Good Hope nursing home where she is being treated. The rapid onset of severe dementia in the family and the overwhelming physical and psychological effects of narcotic addiction set the family into an impending breakdown.

The thread running through the full narrative is drug misuse and the tragic problems of Ketamine abuse, Adam's addiction is clouding his judgement, he finds it difficult to accept his mother's friendship with another man while his father is still alive and financing her stay at the nursing home. Adam is determined to put an end to his mother’s relationship and his father’s humiliation. Joseph's son, Jack Connolly claims that his father, a widower, and Susan, his current companion, should continue their affair. He demands, ‘When do the rights of those who lose their faculties end and the perverse gratification of the relatives take over?’

This tale of tragic romance is set in Eastbourne, the seaside town that adorns the Sussex coastline of southern England. The well-described setting underlined the reality of the situation and increases the realisation that these calamities could affect any family. The novel explores love, care, and happiness along with naivety, rivalry, and betrayal.

George John, in his first novel, portrays an intriguing story in a simple yet endearing narrative style. The incident at the traffic lights, the goings on in the mysterious ‘green room’, the story of a conspiring, greedy ex-partner, the opportunism of a scheming ‘home help’ and the dreadful effects of Ketamine abuse set the stage for a climax that is sensational as it is unpredictable.

7. Some Mistakes Have No Pardon - Girdhar Joshi

Largeprint (Hardback) Our price: £24.99  - Click book title for availability and further details

This is a story of a man who struggles to find love, peace, and happiness in relationships but ends up losing relations after relations amidst the compelling pressures of profession, passion, and maladjustment of life. Two important points highlighted in the pages of this story are: one - how a boy with a deprived childhood that blossomed and bloomed on bottle-gourd curry and pumpkin gods of grandmother and butter-milk and mint chutney of orphaned granny, could still create riches and achieve literary enlightenment - the rags-to-riches story. And, two - how strains of wretched and ill managed relations could undo every achievement, cause him strive to look for shelter elsewhere, and knock down the person into the nadir of disgrace and eventually brink of extinction - the riches-to-ashes story. These two ends are the central themes in this story, which are woven in through the warp and weft of incidences.
